WHAT IS DRY EYE?

Dry Eye Disease is a common condition that occurs when tears aren't able to provide adequate lubrication for eyes.  Tears are formed in a complex mechanism that form multiple different layers.  A deficiency in any of the layers can cause inadequate lubrication.  

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?

 

  • Excessive tearing/watering 

  • Sandy/gritty/grainy/burning sensation

  • Contact lens irritation/intolerance-wearing them for a few hours rather than all day 

  • Tired eyes

  • Itchy/fiery feeling

  • Eye redness

WHAT ARE THE RISK FACTORS?

 

  • Age

  • Gender

  • Systemic/dermatologic Disease (Inflammatory diseases including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, Sjogrens, Diabetes, Rosacea)

  • Medications

  • Screen time

  • Environmental Factors

Dr. Ada Noh

 

Dr. Noh is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania College of Optometry.  She is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Arkansas Optometric Society.  After years of private practice, she found her passion within Dry Eye Disease.  This is an underserved demographic that she is excited to help!  Vision is so much more than just 20/20.  Her goal is to achieve clear, comfortable vision for each of her patients.
